Our day to day right now is built around our main project located in Titusville Alabama called The Cultural Center. It is our most ambitious project to date and is a $3 Million+ phased redevelopment. The Cultural Center is now home to three nonprofits supporting Birmingham youth, including education, workforce development, and athletics/fitness training. With further development underway, The Cultural Center will provide 6-8 community desired uses in one concentrated and unique venue. This could include q food beverage development concept, event center, creative space and a business incubation co-working area.
HEALTH
A4One - 23,000 SF – A state-of-the-art indoor fitness facility that includes basketball, baseball, soccer, and functional fitness training delivering refuge, access, and community to youth in and around downtown Birmingham. https://a4one.org/
EDUCATION
AWAKE Community School – 8,300 SF - PreK thru 6th grade private multicultural, inclusive school created and run by Common Thread partner Amantha Hill.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT + EDUCATION
BuildUp Birmingham - 15,000 SF – a unique workforce development model that provides low-income youth with career-ready skills in the construction industry + an accredited high school education. https://www.buildup.work/
COMING Soon - Building 2 - 15,000 SF
TuneUp – like BuildUp Birmingham, TuneUp will be a workforce development modeled school that provides low-income youth with auto mechanics training through paid apprenticeships at local Birmingham auto dealerships and repair shops. The students will gain a high school accredited education and experience that will lead to jobs in the automotive repair field and ultimately car ownership. Opening fall 2023.
Teaching Kitchen – through local partnerships, Building 2 will house a commissary kitchen to support entrepreneurs in the restaurant industry including food trucks. The Teaching Kitchen is in the planning and pre-development phase.
The Hub2 – Common Thread is creating its second shared office collaboration space to support entrepreneurs and nonprofits in the Titusville community. The Hub2 is in the planning and pre-development phase.
